WE MADE IT!! (excited font!!)
Wahoo! An uneventful trip down here resulted in smooth sailing once we arrived.
Six of us of the seven who plan to live together made it down here without incident (I'll let the Captain make his own report of how he fared once he's settled).
Once arrived and without a place to call home yet, we traveled en masse to the office of the broker who found us an apartment. Our official place of residence (address to follow!) won't be ready until Monday, so six of us are in temporary housing until that time. Once we got there, we had two choices: Live all together outside of the Providencia neighborhood, our split up within the Providencia neighborhood for the next week. We chose the latter. Mr. & Mrs. West Point, VB Champ, and Double Domer K are in one place, while Double Domer B, KMS, and possibly The Captain are in another place. Each place is nice/fine/acceptable for the next week - but none of us want to stay here permanently for the next month and a half.
After dropping off two months of our lives in our sleep houses, we met for lunch in the neighborhood. Several toasts (and bottles of wine) were had, including a very special one for KMS's birthday today (hooray!). Tapas was just what the doctor ordered to put is in the mood...for naps. Tummy full/head tired. I would swear in a court of law that it had nothing to do with the Pisco shots provided to us by the waitress.
Looking forward to celebratory drinks and dinner for (nearly) everyone's arrival tonight at the California bar, followed by a rigorous ass-kicking by our Spanish teachers tomorrow no matter our level of proficiency.
Here's to two months of adventures. Cheers.
[A Special Note from Kate: The best things in life are free. It takes nothing for you to post 'Happy Birthday' on my facebook wall, but means the world to me - literally, as I spent my first birthday abroad. Feliz cumpleanos indeed xx]
